I got the job!!

By Paul at 9:34 am on Thursday, November 9, 2006

I had a job interview last Friday… and I received the call yesterday that I got the job… I’m in my 3rd year of my 4 year Red Seal Journeyman Steel Fabrication Program.. I start Tuesday Nov. 14th, 2006. It’s a Structural Fabricating Shop named George Third & Son.

I should finally be able to complete my Apprenticeship. The last place I worked to try and complete my Apprenticeship laid me off when it got slow, but I don’t buy that.  It was supposedly a Union shop but you could tell it was more a make shift Union, and was used mainly for bidding on Union Jobs.  I mean when you are the members of the “The Local 1” of the Union and You are the only members or Local to boot, I was not impressed.

So wish me luck in my new job and hopefully in about a year and half I will have completed my Apprenticeship and I will have more leverage on what jobs I want to have and where I want to work. Till then Thank you Rod at George Third & Son for accepting me as a new Apprentice.

thanks for reading…  🙂

What a day!!!

By Paul at 8:27 pm on Monday, November 6, 2006

I can’t believe it…. like these past few weeks haven’t been hard enough to deal with…  I wake up to a phone call about my fence having been damaged…. I’m like WHAT!!?? It seems I slept through a car almost crashing into my house last night!! I usually wake up to the slightest noise and yet I didn’t wake up to this..??

My dad and sister heard the crash and they woke up…. my dad rushed out to see what was going on… my sister phoned 911 and the police actually caught her.. and she was charged with speeding. She lost control of her car when she hit a huge puddle and hydroplaned spinning into doughnuts down 64th Ave. The police came and took a bunch of pictures and a police report was written up. This is the first time ever, that we have had to make a claim with our Home insurance. A few hours later my sister was phoned and told the police report was all ready and could be picked up anytime today..  and that I.C.B.C. would be paying for the damage because it involved a car..

I phoned Dial-a-Claim and made a claim, they told me to contact my home insurance company too. So basically Home Insurance would repair the damage and bill I.C.B.C. sounds like a good plan to me.. after all it wasn’t our fault.  Apparently the lady that hit our fence hydro-planed and lost control of her vehicle..
Here are some pictures of the damage…  She only missed the house by a few feet… and the fence stopped her from ramming into the neighbors home too…..

Stay tuned for any and all updates on the repairs. I’m just wondering if this month can get anymore excitement in it now……

Cheers….  thanx for stopping by…..

OMG!!! what is it with MSN Messenger…?

By Paul at 4:38 pm on Sunday, November 5, 2006

First of all you get Messenger 4.7 installed when you do a fresh install of WINXP… why have they not removed it when SP1 and SP2 came out….  Now when you get a Full instal OEM WinXP SP2 Pro CD it still has that silly 4.7 version of Messenger. Now they upgraded MANY times and when will it ever work properly.?? Do you still have that pesky versiion around….  well get rid of it fully with this command……  Just copy and paste this whole line between the quotes into a RUN Command line and poof!!! All gone…  “rundll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %systemRoot%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove” it’s one of the first things I do when I have to reinstall the OS or when I build a new PC.

How many times has MSN Messenger been updated now.?? and they still seem to have one problem after another…. I like the new Messenger Live!! but geez… Why change the way you added contacts to your list…? Was great to get that popup window telling you that you have been added… now you get nothing… at least I haven’t recieved that little popup recently… yet we I have a tick in the Privacy Tab to “Alert me when other prople add me to their contacts list” must be broken now.

So I went back to version 7.5 and as soon as I logged in with the old version I get 3-4 popup windowes telling me so-n-so has added me…  today I have been getting the silly message “The following message could not be delivered to all recipients:” and that is the middle of a chat session… I close the chat window fire up another and it still happens.. it’s annoying as hell.. Maybe they should rename it “Windows Dead Messenger” instead!! Nothing Live! about it….  Thank god I still have Yahoo and ICQ or I may never be able to comminucate with some of my friends…..

Not a Happy Camper….

By Paul at 4:57 pm on Saturday, November 4, 2006

Well first of all I was to attend Manjit’s Funeral service.. and second I was expecting a Phone call about a job or something to help me complete my Apprenticeship.. I also wanted to go for PHO!! the link was just to give you an idea of what i am talking about everytime I mention the term PHO….

So anyway……  Why am I not happy you ask..? well I never recieved the phone call about the job….  because of that I never made it to the Funeral…. and obviously I missed out on my Saturday afternoon PHO! So all in all it was a horrible day…..  not getting anywhere with finding a Job…..  not able to pay my respects to Manjit…  and missing out on a very delicious lunch friends….  I usually go there with my Dad and meet up with John, Wolfe, Lindsey, Todd, they are the usual group…  sometimes John and Lindsey bring their counter parts….  recently Gerry came out and We also met with Walker.  needless to say it is a great way to spend your afternoon..

So not to make it a total wasted day I sent off a few emails for more potential local jobs…. I’d love to get a call back from Hammer looks like something I’d enjoy doing… fingers crossed…… and few others that I found….  but we will see what happens on Monday hopefully I get a call back from my interview I had on Friday…

Almost time for some news reports so hope all of you had/have a great day/evening..  I want to see if there’s anything about Manjit’s funeral on the news…..

Cheers…..

Thanks for reading….

Out of Respect…

By Paul at 9:16 am on Saturday, November 4, 2006

I have held off on posting anything new out of respect to the loss of Manjit Panghali.  Today is the funeral date and I hope to get back to posting more random thoughts after today.

It was not my intent to indtroduce this site to my family and friends with the story of Manjit Panghali.  I was compelled by my having known her, to post something in her Memory.

I hope her family will be able to move on from this as I am sure this is what Manjit would want.  That said, I hope the athourities will be able to bring to justice, the cowards involved in this tragic loss, closure is the key to healing.

Rest in Peace Manjit.
