Trials & Tribulations; One Man's Journey to Get a Seat Aboard That Train!

WOW! Here we go again!! I’m Rambling!!!

By Paul at 8:13 pm on Wednesday, October 25, 2006

Hiya folks So I may not be putting in as many HOURS as our friend Johnny on his Blog……

But I am in the middle of searching for a job yet again. I am on call at the shipyards making $31/hour but one can only wait for a call so..  long before he must look at other avenues of income….. so here we are to ponder the thought…  is Blogging the Answer…? it certainly is for some people. They are able to make a living from their Blog but then does the argument “Trading Hours for Dollars” hold true ONLY for those of us that have a 9-5 Job.? (7-3 in my case) I mean seriously now…  are we going to say that people that Post items to their BLOG or other Internet website say a Hardware Review Site even…  Do they Not WORK.???  Do they not Trade Posts for Dollars.?  do making these POSTS not take up any time.??

My argument is simple I am not knocking the Perma-Bloggers…  all the power to them for having idea’s to post about. I am now going to Post My own thoughts now and then and see what comes of this Blogging.

I have opinions about the Canadian Immigration Department’s handling of My Wifes Visa to immigrate to Canada. I have an opinion about My Culture and when a baby arrives into the world.. it is Just my culture? (I’m East Indian or South Asian even we are also known as Indo-Canadian) I have things to talk about, but who will read my ramblings.? Will someone from immigration Canada get a hold of my link and will it help my wifes Case.? or will it help another.?  I doubt it, but here goes nothing…  I am going to Try this and ride it out a while and see what comes of it…

Cheers!!

Thanx for reading…

I don’t think you fully understood John’s argument in “Trading dollars for hours”. It’s not like we don’t work. We do. The thing is, when we’re NOT working, money is still coming in. When you’re going to sleep, your site is still receiving traffics, and therefore receiving revenue. If we really were ‘trading dollars for hours’ we would have to spend 8 hours a day on the website, and when we stop, the money stops. That’s really the point.

And no, it’s not like it is easy to make money with a blog. There are millions out there, and most make less than $10 a month if that. But why not try? Why not establish a base to start from? Maybe nobody will want to read about your problems with immigration… But maybe they will? Maybe you will find something that hits with a niche, and traffic will come flooding in. All it takes is one unique story to get things started.

At the very least, it will give some way for your friends to keep up with you while they may not be able to hang out with you all the time. Keep it up!

Trading hours for dollar applies only to the job. We (Carl & I) don’t trade hours for dollars. We trade our hours for income producing assets. When I trade my hours to create an article, I didn’t get money for it. Instead got a money making asset. It’s an asset that will continue to make money long after I have traded my hours for it. It may only product a few dollars a day but over the long run, it will make a sizeable contribution. Now all you have to do is trade more hours for more income producing assets. Eventually, you’ll hit a point where those assets make you so much, you have the freedom to trade your hours anyway you see fit.

When you blog here, you are creating a potential income generating asset. All the tools are in place for you to take advantage of it. Will anyone read your ramblings? The answer is yes. If you build it, I can show you how to get traffic to it.

I like the new theme. It looks good!

Nothing that is worth it is easy. You’ll need to keep working at it. A successful blog isn’t built in a day.

Eventually, people will come to your blog because they’ve connected with you. Then they will tell others, and those people will tell others.

The foundation you build now, will reap benefits later. Don’t give up!

There’s an old Chinese Proverb that says:

When you hear something, you will forget it.
When you see something, you will remember it.
But not until you do something, will you understand it

In short, those who engage in a process must remember their aim in order to continue and acheive excellence. The road to success is never easy (unless you whips and chains sell on eBay) 😉
