I got the job!!

By Paul at 9:34 am on Thursday, November 9, 2006

I had a job interview last Friday… and I received the call yesterday that I got the job… I’m in my 3rd year of my 4 year Red Seal Journeyman Steel Fabrication Program.. I start Tuesday Nov. 14th, 2006. It’s a Structural Fabricating Shop named George Third & Son.

I should finally be able to complete my Apprenticeship. The last place I worked to try and complete my Apprenticeship laid me off when it got slow, but I don’t buy that.  It was supposedly a Union shop but you could tell it was more a make shift Union, and was used mainly for bidding on Union Jobs.  I mean when you are the members of the “The Local 1” of the Union and You are the only members or Local to boot, I was not impressed.

So wish me luck in my new job and hopefully in about a year and half I will have completed my Apprenticeship and I will have more leverage on what jobs I want to have and where I want to work. Till then Thank you Rod at George Third & Son for accepting me as a new Apprentice.

thanks for reading…  🙂

What a day!!!

By Paul at 8:27 pm on Monday, November 6, 2006

I can’t believe it…. like these past few weeks haven’t been hard enough to deal with…  I wake up to a phone call about my fence having been damaged…. I’m like WHAT!!?? It seems I slept through a car almost crashing into my house last night!! I usually wake up to the slightest noise and yet I didn’t wake up to this..??

My dad and sister heard the crash and they woke up…. my dad rushed out to see what was going on… my sister phoned 911 and the police actually caught her.. and she was charged with speeding. She lost control of her car when she hit a huge puddle and hydroplaned spinning into doughnuts down 64th Ave. The police came and took a bunch of pictures and a police report was written up. This is the first time ever, that we have had to make a claim with our Home insurance. A few hours later my sister was phoned and told the police report was all ready and could be picked up anytime today..  and that I.C.B.C. would be paying for the damage because it involved a car..

I phoned Dial-a-Claim and made a claim, they told me to contact my home insurance company too. So basically Home Insurance would repair the damage and bill I.C.B.C. sounds like a good plan to me.. after all it wasn’t our fault.  Apparently the lady that hit our fence hydro-planed and lost control of her vehicle..
Here are some pictures of the damage…  She only missed the house by a few feet… and the fence stopped her from ramming into the neighbors home too…..

Above: the damaged fence to the left side of the house.

dscn5688.jpg

Above: a picture of the tire tracks left in the lawn.

Stay tuned for any and all updates on the repairs. I’m just wondering if this month can get anymore excitement in it now……

Cheers….  thanx for stopping by…..

OMG!!! what is it with MSN Messenger…?

By Paul at 4:38 pm on Sunday, November 5, 2006

First of all you get Messenger 4.7 installed when you do a fresh install of WINXP… why have they not removed it when SP1 and SP2 came out….  Now when you get a Full instal OEM WinXP SP2 Pro CD it still has that silly 4.7 version of Messenger. Now they upgraded MANY times and when will it ever work properly.?? Do you still have that pesky versiion around….  well get rid of it fully with this command……  Just copy and paste this whole line between the quotes into a RUN Command line and poof!!! All gone…  “rundll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %systemRoot%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove” it’s one of the first things I do when I have to reinstall the OS or when I build a new PC.

How many times has MSN Messenger been updated now.?? and they still seem to have one problem after another…. I like the new Messenger Live!! but geez… Why change the way you added contacts to your list…? Was great to get that popup window telling you that you have been added… now you get nothing… at least I haven’t recieved that little popup recently… yet we I have a tick in the Privacy Tab to “Alert me when other prople add me to their contacts list” must be broken now.

So I went back to version 7.5 and as soon as I logged in with the old version I get 3-4 popup windowes telling me so-n-so has added me…  today I have been getting the silly message “The following message could not be delivered to all recipients:” and that is the middle of a chat session… I close the chat window fire up another and it still happens.. it’s annoying as hell.. Maybe they should rename it “Windows Dead Messenger” instead!! Nothing Live! about it….  Thank god I still have Yahoo and ICQ or I may never be able to comminucate with some of my friends…..

Not a Happy Camper….

By Paul at 4:57 pm on Saturday, November 4, 2006

Well first of all I was to attend Manjit’s Funeral service.. and second I was expecting a Phone call about a job or something to help me complete my Apprenticeship.. I also wanted to go for PHO!! the link was just to give you an idea of what i am talking about everytime I mention the term PHO….

So anyway……  Why am I not happy you ask..? well I never recieved the phone call about the job….  because of that I never made it to the Funeral…. and obviously I missed out on my Saturday afternoon PHO! So all in all it was a horrible day…..  not getting anywhere with finding a Job…..  not able to pay my respects to Manjit…  and missing out on a very delicious lunch friends….  I usually go there with my Dad and meet up with John, Wolfe, Lindsey, Todd, they are the usual group…  sometimes John and Lindsey bring their counter parts….  recently Gerry came out and We also met with Walker.  needless to say it is a great way to spend your afternoon..

So not to make it a total wasted day I sent off a few emails for more potential local jobs…. I’d love to get a call back from Hammer looks like something I’d enjoy doing… fingers crossed…… and few others that I found….  but we will see what happens on Monday hopefully I get a call back from my interview I had on Friday…

Almost time for some news reports so hope all of you had/have a great day/evening..  I want to see if there’s anything about Manjit’s funeral on the news…..

Cheers…..

Thanks for reading….

Out of Respect…

By Paul at 9:16 am on Saturday, November 4, 2006

I have held off on posting anything new out of respect to the loss of Manjit Panghali.  Today is the funeral date and I hope to get back to posting more random thoughts after today.

It was not my intent to indtroduce this site to my family and friends with the story of Manjit Panghali.  I was compelled by my having known her, to post something in her Memory.

I hope her family will be able to move on from this as I am sure this is what Manjit would want.  That said, I hope the athourities will be able to bring to justice, the cowards involved in this tragic loss, closure is the key to healing.

Rest in Peace Manjit.

Published: Monday, October 30, 2006
Manjit Panghali’s best friend says the murdered woman’s husband never phoned her looking for his wife, despite his claim that he called all her friends in the hours after she disappeared.

–Now the facts will emerge I guess, Who are the first people You would call when a loved one goes missing.??

“I reported her missing after 26, 27 hours,” Mukhtiar Panghali said last week.

–Wow talk about something just not sounding right about that…. How many people can you call in 26 hours??

Manjit Panghali’s brother, sister and parents have told The Province Mukhtiar Panghali called them about 7 a.m. on Oct. 19.

–Would you not call her parents house “FIRST”.?? I know when my Brother-in-Law calls my Mom first if he can’t locate my sister Rosy.

Radio India host Sukhminder Singh Cheema said the Surrey station has promised to pay a $50,000 reward for information leading police to the killer.

– I hope they catch the cowardly bastard and throw the book at him… You can read the Full Story here at The Province.

Thousands of mourners are expected to attend a public funeral being organized for slain mother and teacher Manjit Panghali, says the Surrey, B.C. woman’s grieving family. The funeral is tentatively planned for next weekend in Delta, B.C.

Police in Delta confirmed Thursday that a body disfigured by fire found earlier in the week was that of the 30-year-old. Delta Police said updates on the investigation may be days or weeks away.

As police probe the murder, a criminal harassment case against Mukhtiar’s brother Sukhvinder Panghali, 26, has been fast-tracked through Richmond, B.C., court. The charge against the aircraft mechanic was laid in September. The woman he allegedly harassed has since moved from her Richmond home.

Six Degrees of Separation.??

By Paul at 10:34 pm on Thursday, October 26, 2006

I don’t know how many of you have been following the story of the pregnant woman that went missing last Wednesday Oct 18th.She was on her way to a Yoga prenatal class. Mother, to a 3 ½ year old daughter, excited to be 4 months pregnant with her second child. Well today police finally released information, that the charred remains found Monday, are that of the above mentioned woman.
Her name… Manjit Panghali. Manjit was 30 years old, a grade one school teacher at a local Elementary.

Now you may be wondering why I of all people have brought this up in my blog. Manjit (Bubbs or Bubbli or Bubbles as I used to know her) I knew her between the ages of 12-16. She is my Ex-Wife’s Sister, my Sister-In-Law. It was a Long time ago that I was a part of that family 1987-1991. I feel horrible I am not able to console the family I once called my own.  I don’t know how they would take my calling or visiting them at probably the lowest moment of their entire lives. I want them to know how sad I am for their loss.  How sorry my whole family is for their loss. Please say a little prayer for Manjit, and her family. I can’t imagine how much they must be hurting right now. I hope they can catch and bring those responsible to justice as quickly as possible. I will try to get in touch with her family to pay my respects.  Until then, Manjit Rest In Peace…

WOW! Here we go again!! I’m Rambling!!!

By Paul at 8:13 pm on Wednesday, October 25, 2006

Hiya folks So I may not be putting in as many HOURS as our friend Johnny on his Blog……

But I am in the middle of searching for a job yet again. I am on call at the shipyards making $31/hour but one can only wait for a call so..  long before he must look at other avenues of income….. so here we are to ponder the thought…  is Blogging the Answer…? it certainly is for some people. They are able to make a living from their Blog but then does the argument “Trading Hours for Dollars” hold true ONLY for those of us that have a 9-5 Job.? (7-3 in my case) I mean seriously now…  are we going to say that people that Post items to their BLOG or other Internet website say a Hardware Review Site even…  Do they Not WORK.???  Do they not Trade Posts for Dollars.?  do making these POSTS not take up any time.??

My argument is simple I am not knocking the Perma-Bloggers…  all the power to them for having idea’s to post about. I am now going to Post My own thoughts now and then and see what comes of this Blogging.

I have opinions about the Canadian Immigration Department’s handling of My Wifes Visa to immigrate to Canada. I have an opinion about My Culture and when a baby arrives into the world.. it is Just my culture? (I’m East Indian or South Asian even we are also known as Indo-Canadian) I have things to talk about, but who will read my ramblings.? Will someone from immigration Canada get a hold of my link and will it help my wifes Case.? or will it help another.?  I doubt it, but here goes nothing…  I am going to Try this and ride it out a while and see what comes of it…

Cheers!!

Thanx for reading…

Lazy or Not Lazy… seems THAT is the question here….

By Paul at 10:12 am on Saturday, September 30, 2006

So now here I am Pondering if I am indeed lazy or just not quite ready to hop on that train…. now should it leave have I missed anything in the short term.? or is it the fact that I need to have my bills paid first. taking precedence over my being able to BLOG like the rest of you ….  You are all already on that Train… probably with your own cabins on board…..  I’d merely be just getting any available seat…. assuming there are any open. I am not giving up…..  I am just too busy with my current J.O.B. and I am just trying to now spread myself too thin on this or that J.O.B and not get ahead…..

Falling behind is the worst part of not having the financial freedom we ALL Strive for……… You all just hopped on that train a lot sooner than I did….. Some have struggled and stuck it out (As will I) others were just at the right place at the right time….  (FOR THAT TRAIN) but as all types of transportation…  you get from point A to B and then to C but you always come back to Point A at some time……. I am not going anywhere……  and I will just hop on as soon as I can……

I too will get my own cabin and join you all in this “way of life’  who wouldn’t want to…? 9 hour days at The Vancouver Dry-dock Company and my commute to and from takes 12 hours out of my day….  Does that make me LAZY.??  My reply….. HELL NO!!  not lazy at all……  :P    Just bare with me Damn it……  So I missed the train when you all hopped on….  I haven’t gone anywhere YET!
